Accessibility statement

Many visitors to this site read Dutch at A2/B1 level, and some use a screen reader, keyboard-only navigation, or enlarged text. Accessibility is therefore not an afterthought for us — it is core functionality. We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA across this site.

What we already do

• Sufficient colour contrast (minimum 4.5:1 for text) between text and background.
• A visible focus ring on keyboard navigation, on every interactive element.
• One clear H1 per page and a logical heading hierarchy (H2, H3, …).
• A "skip to content" link to jump straight to the main content.
• Plain language (A2/B1 level): short sentences, minimal jargon, subheadings throughout.
• No information conveyed by colour alone.
• Respect for the "reduced motion" preference (prefers-reduced-motion) in your OS or browser.
• Icons always paired with a text label, never used as the only indicator.

What still needs improvement

We are honest about what is not (fully) in order yet:

• This statement has not yet been externally audited by an accessibility expert; the points below reflect our own assessment.
• The free practice exam (KNM) was built with keyboard and basic screen-reader support, but has not yet been tested extensively with multiple screen readers.
• Advertising is not yet active on this site. When it goes live, we will explicitly verify that ads do not reduce accessibility, as described below.

Technical foundation

The site is built with semantic HTML and accessible ready-made patterns (such as the native<details> element for FAQ accordions) and is tested with automated checks. This does not replace manual keyboard and screen-reader testing, which we continue to expand.
