Privacy policy

By Redactie Inburgering — samengesteld op basis van officiële bronnenLast checked: 2026-07-10

This privacy policy explains which personal data this website processes, for what purpose, and what rights you have. This site is an independent initiative — it is not part of the Dutch government, DUO, or any municipality. See also the disclaimer.

Who is responsible?

The editorial team of this website is responsible for the processing of personal data as described in this policy. Questions or requests about your data can be sent tocontact@inburgeringwijzer.nl.

What data do we process, and why?

Visiting the website

When you visit this site, our hosting provider automatically processes technical data needed to deliver the pages — such as your IP address, browser type, and the page requested. This is necessary for the website to function (legitimate interest) and is not used to identify or track you personally.

Cookies, advertising and analytics

On your first visit we ask via a consent banner whether we may place cookies for visitor statistics (Google Analytics) and advertising (Google AdSense). Before you make a choice, everything is set to "denied" by default (Google Consent Mode v2). After your choice we apply it immediately. You can change your preference at any time via "Cookie preferences" in the footer. Which cookies are used is explained in the cookie policy.

Affiliate links

Some links may be commercial (affiliate) links — see theaffiliate disclosure. If you purchase something via such a link, the provider may use a cookie or tracking parameter to attribute that to us. We do not receive any personal data about you in that process; the provider is responsible for their own data processing.

The free practice exam

The practice exam (KNM) runs entirely in your browser: your answers and score are never sent to or stored on our server. You can use the practice tool without an account and without us knowing which questions you answered correctly or incorrectly.

Legal basis

For cookies that are not strictly necessary (advertising, analytics) we ask for yourconsent in advance. For the technical data needed to operate the website, we rely on our legitimate interest as website operator.

How long do we retain data?

Technical log files are not retained longer than necessary for security and troubleshooting. Cookies from advertising and analytics partners have their own retention periods, which will be listed in the cookie policy once those partners are active.

Sharing with third parties

With your consent, we share visitor statistics with Google (Analytics). Once advertising and affiliate tracking become active, the same will apply to Google (AdSense) and any chosen affiliate network. We do not sell data to third parties for any other purpose.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, send an email tocontact@inburgeringwijzer.nl. You may also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

Changes

We may update this policy, for example when advertising, analytics or an affiliate partner goes live. The "last checked" date above shows when this was last updated.
